Super busy Monday madness for TinCan today! No studios available this morning, but that didn't stop us! We all gathered together in Taylor and Gary's living room to get some organisation done. Bec suggested to us that sometimes it's good to get our ideas down on paper and map them all out - so that's what we've done! We spent all morning discussing ideas, researching and creating a timeline for the show, scene by scene. Obviously we know that this will change, but it's good to get ideas down and try to see how it can all thread together. We have decided to choose 5 different stories from the refugee crisis and depict them through the five office characters we had previously come up with in our early improvisations. The five stories/elements we have chosen are:

- The start of the civil war in Syria

- The boat crossings

- Opinions of those that are forgotten, i.e lorry drivers that are being fined when refugees are found in their lorries

- Arriving in a new country

- Refugee Music Project (check that out here: http://www.refugeemusicproject.com/)

Each of those will be represented in a scene, with the office storyline running throughout and tying them all together. Again, these are initial ideas at the moment and any theatre maker will know that you usually always end up with something different than you first planned! But this is just to get us started and we're pretty excited about where we can take it.

In other news on this crazy Monday, we created an Instagram account! So if you want to check that out (which I highly recommend) we're on there as @tincantheatre and we'll be updating you on all our adventures!

Next on the agenda was a lecture run by Deborah Price which was really fun an inspirational. We learnt how to BIND BOOKS! It was so much fun and they looked really great. Here are Niamh's and my own:

How cute are they?! They have a spine and everything, not that you can see that all too well in this photo. So who knows, maybe we'll continue on with this and make some more! They could make fun, unique, individual programmes. What do you think?

But this was not all for our momentous Monday! We then had another couple of hours rehearsal where we continued on with our timeline and tried out a couple of scenes. By the end of this though, we were all pretty exhausted, so off to bed for us! Get ourselves refreshed and ready for tomorrow and whatever this already-crazy week has in store for us.

We'll post again soon!
